API Translator

The API Translator is the base generic platform for the Microtronix line of Lucent 5ESS Switch Application Processor Interface (API) solutions. It provides transport and interface translation between a Lucent 5ESS ISDN API and a remote Application Processor (AP) management system. It is available in a NEBS-compliant platform.

Highly configurable, with direct connection and networking options including X.25, TCP, serial, etc, the Transactor includes extensive management, statistic, and tracing capability.

The Transactor supports the Applications Processor Communication Package (APCP) protocol for API-type connections to the 5ESS, providing direct capability message extraction and encapsulation on behalf of the remote AP.

In addition, it also supports Network APCP that emulates the behavior of the 5ESS API link. For testing and development purposes, this is an indispensable tool since expensive 5ESS switches are not usually available in an R&D lab.

The basic unit includes MSS/SMDI and MDR/ASCII translations. It is customizable to specific customer needs including additional capability message translations and/or capability message stream splitting by type.
